Activision Addresses Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Storage Concerns with New Clarification

Activision has clarified that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will not necessitate 300GB of storage capacity, contrary to previous assertions.

Good news has arrived for those worried about their SSD's capacity regarding Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's installation requirements. Activision has confirmed that the game will indeed occupy less storage than initially reported.

IGN revealed that the Xbox store had listed the game with a staggering install size requirement of 309.85GB, which caused dismay among the Call of Duty community accustomed to sizeable game files, typically around 150GB.

To address the confusion, Activision used its official Call of Duty Updates X / Twitter profile to provide clarity on the matter. They reassured that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's actual disk space requirement is considerably less.

A post stated, "Correction: The file size estimates presently shown on the Black Ops 6 pre-order pages incorrectly indicate the total download size or disk footprint for Black Ops 6."

The statement further explained that the inflated sizes encompass the complete installations for Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Warzone, and all pertinent content packs across all languages. They noted that this does not reflect the usual installation experience for most players.

It was also mentioned that, at launch, players would have the option to install Black Ops 6 without needing to download additional Call of Duty titles or language packs.

While the definitive installation size for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 remained under wraps in the announcement, an assurance was provided that this detail would be shared closer to the game's release. This approach considers the game's ongoing development and the potential variability in installed sizes based on the game modules players opt for, like campaign, multiplayer, and zombie modes.

Thus, for now, gamers can feel relieved knowing that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 won't demand excessive space on premium storage solutions for PS5 or the top-tier Xbox Series X hard drives and SSDs.
