New MiHoYo Game to Be Revealed

The company behind Genshin Impact has announced a new title to come out on Friday, May 13. Zenless Zone Zero is an open-world action-adventure game that exploits the gacha genre in which MiHoYo has become a true giant. The title now has a dedicated account on Twitter, the one which first spilled the beans by publishing an announcement about the upcoming release. If you go to the profile and start reading the post, you’ll probably find it not especially informative.

Referring to a “sub-Hollow disaster,” the tweet offers you what’s described as a special entertainment link to prevent you from getting bored. When you click on it, a webpage appears showing an old-fashioned TV said that shows nothing but static. Turn one of the knobs on the right, and you’ll be able to see a news report dedicated to a kind of giant dome over the city that appears to have been oppressing it. You won’t learn much by turning other knobs, unfortunately, so try looking around instead since the room in which the TV is shown contains a number of visual clues. The VHS library on the right is probably indicative of the time period in which the game is set, and the posters on the walls hopefully provide an insight into what the plot will include; these feature a murder mystery as well as a portrait of a woman with a dog. Add a clock showing 01:26 and a calendar with days crossed out, and you have enough food for thought until Friday 13.

It’s a common guess that the details are there to create a nostalgic ambiance that will remind you of 80s/early 90s anime and pop culture, which is quite far from the fantasy world of Genshin Impact. Little is known about the genre of Zenless Zone Zero so far, but it’s a relatively safe bet to say it’s a gacha game. What do you expect from it? Does the preview look fun to you? Leave a comment to share your expectations.
