"Palworld has lost X per cent of its player base discourse is lazy," says developer Pocketpair

Pocketpair, the team behind the popular game Palworld, is responding to concerns over the game's declining player numbers with a message of reassurance to its fan base. Despite witnessing a significant drop in its 24-hour concurrent Steam player count from peaks of 2.1 million at launch to around 535,000, the developer remains unfazed.

Pocketpair’s community manager, known as Bucky, expressed his views on the subject through a social media post, suggesting that the narrative surrounding the percentage of players leaving Palworld is oversimplified and does not warrant concern. Bucky emphasized the normalcy of players exploring other games between content updates, reminding the community that this ebb and flow of player engagement is a common occurrence in the gaming world.

Bucky conveyed a message of unwavering support for both current and former Palworld players, suggesting that the relationship with the game doesn't have to be exclusive or permanent. The anticipation for new, exciting content remains, though Bucky acknowledged the limitations in the rate at which significant updates can be delivered. The team's goal is to ensure players have a reason to return when they are ready and to experience the new features Palworld will offer.

Adding to the challenges faced by the development team, Pocketpair openly admitted to its struggle with maintaining momentum due to a shortage of developers. Further exacerbating the situation are the issues of cheating and fraud, which have notably impacted the game's community. To combat this, Pocketpair announced plans to implement an external anti-cheat solution, marking a proactive step toward creating a fairer, more enjoyable game environment for its players.
