The tumultuous launch of Payday 3 extends its course with numerous consequential patches, suffering multiple delays. Starbreeze Studios had confidently slated their latest update for a mid-October release, only to fall short of their self-proclaimed timeline.
The developers cited unexpected issues arising precariously close to the scheduled shipment of the patch as the reason for the delay, according to an Oct. 16 tweet. This would mark the second instance of deferment for the same major update, with its original launch set for Oct. 6.
Concurrently, Starbreeze purportedly intends to refurbish its update process to preclude similar bottlenecks in the future. Nevertheless, despite the online updates, Payday 3’s gaming community is yet to be privy to a confirmed release date.
At present, the onus lies on the developers to shed light on the status of the patch. In light of the recurring setbacks, Starbreeze has grown cautious about committing to a definite release date. Dot Esports has been proactive and reached out to Starbreeze Studios for additional comments and will make updates as and when they receive a response.
The awaited update promised to bring forward 200 refinements enhancing the quality of life for PayDay 3 players following an extremely challenging game launch.
The release phase of Payday 3 could be aptly compared to a wild rollercoaster ride. In the immediate aftermath of the game hitting stores, server issues marred the early days, affecting matchmaking abilities and autonomous queues.
Alongside the technical hindrances, the player community expressed dissatisfaction with a lack of offline mode, called for variation in the repetitious challenges, and raised concerns over gameplay anomalies. This wave of discontent led to an abundance of negative reviews on Payday 3’s Steam page by the close of September, with a formidable 70% of the 20,000 reviews reflecting unfavorable sentiments.
Over time, Payday 3's rating has shown signs of improvement. How the current delay in patch updates will affect this rating remains uncertain; however, resolving the critical game issues could bolster its standing, potentially elevating the game beyond its current "Mixed" status on Steam.
