Mastering Torgal's Abilities: Unleashing Your Furry Companion's Full Potential in Final Fantasy 16

In Final Fantasy 16, players will quickly become fond of Torgal, Clive's adorable and loyal canine companion. Torgal's presence in the game not only adds cuteness but also brings an invaluable ally in combat. This guide will teach players how to maximize Torgal's abilities in combat and make the most of their furry fighter across several different situations.

Step 1: Reaching the Time Skip

Reaching the Time Skip

To start using Torgal in combat, players need to reach the time skip in Final Fantasy 16. After the time skips, Clive is joined by a grown-up Torgal, who retains his charm but now boasts impressive combat abilities. Once Torgal has joined the team, players can utilize his skills in battles to gain an advantage against their enemies.

Step 2: Issuing Commands to Torgal

As Torgal is an AI-controlled character, players cannot control him directly. However, Clive can issue commands to Torgal in combat using the directional pad (D-Pad). The D-Pad usually allows players to use items, but when pressing left on the D-Pad, they can access three Torgal-specific commands: Sic, Heal, and Ravage. These commands can be used at any point during a battle, providing valuable support to Clive and the team.

Step 3: Utilizing Sic for Targeted Attacks

Utilizing Sic for Targeted Attacks

The Sic command sends Torgal to attack a single enemy target, dealing moderate damage. Torgal will prioritize enemies that Clive is locked onto; however, he can also choose a target if Clive isn't locked onto any opponent. Sic is a swift attack and is especially useful when dealing damage to staggered enemies. If the Sic command is issued after a Precision Dodge or at the end of a combo, Torgal will perform a powerful Precision Sic. Additionally, attacking a prone enemy with Sic will result in a Punishing Sic.

Step 4: Employing Heal for Health Recovery

Heal is an essential command for players to learn, especially for those playing in the Action-Focused Mode. When Clive takes damage, a grey portion appears on his health bar, representing recoverable health. Using the Heal command, Torgal will let out a howl that releases an area of effect (AoE) healing aura, providing passive health regeneration to nearby allies. The heal will only restore the grey portion of Clive's health bar, so timing the Heal command correctly is crucial for efficient health recovery.

Step 5: Executing Ravage for Group Damage and Crowd Control

Executing Ravage for Group Damage and Crowd Control

Ravage is similar to Sic in that it deals damage, but this attack focuses on hitting groups of enemies. While slower than Sic, Ravage has the advantage of knocking down smaller enemies, leaving them vulnerable to Clive's Punish attacks or temporarily removing them from the fight. This gives Clive the opportunity to back off and heal if necessary. Like Sic, Ravage can also be performed following a Precision Dodge or at the end of a combo for optimal effect.

By mastering Torgal's combat abilities, players will find themselves well-equipped to face even the most challenging fights in Final Fantasy 16. Utilizing Torgal's Sic, Heal, and Ravage commands in conjunction with Clive's own skills can lead to a powerful and unstoppable duo capable of overcoming all obstacles in their path.
